Creating a document in Microsoft Word for Mac? Depending on who you’re creating the document for, you may have to check the word count of the document to see how many words it contains. Many organizations such as schools and legal entities have very strict guidelines regarding the word count.
Here’s how to show the word count in a Microsoft Word document on your Mac:
Open Microsoft Word on your Mac, and then open a document.
From the Tools menu, select Show Word Count. The window shown below appears. This window also displays the number of characters, paragraphs, and lines in your document.
Alternatively, you can view the number of words in the lower-left part of the main document window. This information is displayed at all times, so it’s a handy way to keep an eye on the word count as you’re typing.
That’s it! You’ve successfully found the word count of your Microsoft Word document.
