Amazon’s Kindle devices have become synonymous with ebooks. But did you know that there’s also a way to read Kindle books on a Mac? With the free Kindle application for Mac, you can read all of your Kindle books on your Mac — for free.
Here’s how to read Kindle books on a Mac:
Download and install the free Kindle app for Mac. It’s available from Apple’s App Store.
Open the Kindle app on your Mac.
Sign in to the app with your Amazon username and password.
Pick a book and start reading! Your Kindle books are now available to read on your Mac.
Downloading Kindle Books to Your Mac
You can download Kindle books to your Mac for reading when you’re not connected to a wireless network. This is great for long flights and daily commutes.
Here’s how to download Kindle books to your Mac:
In the Kindle app, right click on the book you want to download to your Mac. The following menu appears.
Click Download.
The Kindle book will be downloaded to your Mac.
Deleting Downloaded Kindle Books from Your Mac
Once you’ve read a Kindle book, you can delete it from your Mac. Deleting downloaded books can save space on your Mac.
Here’s how to delete a downloaded Kindle book from your Mac:
In the Kindle app, right click on the book you want to delete from your Mac. The following menu appears.
Tap Remove From Device.
The Kindle book will be deleted from your Mac.
Where Kindle Files Are Stored on a Mac
By default, the Kindle application for Mac stores files in the following location:
/user/Library/Containers/Kindle/Data/Library/Application Support/Kindle/My Kindle Content
