How to Disable iMessage for Your Phone Number

iMessage is Apple’s end-to-end encrypted instant messaging service that you can use to send text messages, photos, and more to other people who own Apple devices. If you’re switching from an iPhone to an Android phone, you’ll need to disable and deactivate iMessage permanently so it doesn’t interfere with your new phone. You can disable iMessage on your iPhone, but if you’ve already gotten rid of your iPhone, you’ll need to use Apple’s website to disable and deactivate iMessage for your phone number.
Here’s how to use Apple’s website to manually disable and deactivate iMessage for your phone number:
Using a web browser, open Apple’s Deregister iMessage page.
Enter your phone number and click the Send Code link, as shown below. Apple will send you a text message with a confirmation code.
Enter the confirmation code from the text message and click the Submit button.
You’ve successfully used Apple’s website to manually disable and deactivate iMessage for your phone number.
